The Pacific

I put some chicken on because I would hate to get hungry while I'm doing my stuff.

Writing
Foucault will have to wait. Today I will be writing about the impact education has on the continuity and representation of contemporary Pacific Island cultures. I will be be comparing this aspect in Papua New Guinea and Samoa. This writing pretty much writes out itself - it is very clear the impact education has on culture, especially in regards to continuity. I will be sure to post up parts of my finished writing on my alternative blog.

Pasific Issues and Personal Interests
Last night's conversation (with my cousin Siua, and uncle Max) turned out to be a lot about Pacific issues and culture. My proposal submission for the summer scholarship also revolved around Pacific issues. It's a region that continues to jump into my current interests. We live in the Pacific so there is no escaping it. However, my interest in the area has been growing in the last year. It does appear that I would like my life work, outside family, to revolve here. This probably has a lot to do with my family and interest in my heritage.

Tu'itahi Ha'apai Trip
Speaking of which, I intend to go to Tonga next year with anyone in the family who is interested. I would like to shoot footage and if possible, compile a documentary about our family migration.
Arial shot of resort
I plan on staying in Ha'apai for about a week. Found accommodation out there called Matafonua Lodge on Foa which looks fantastic! It's ideal also because it is right at the tip between Foa and Ha'ano. I cannot wait.

Sidenotes
I told my best friend Navan about my blog today. I said I feel self-conscious about what I publish here, but meh. If my writing comes of sounding whiny and pre-pubescent, well you can just keep it to yourself. Or we can play uppercuts.

Chicken smells cooked. Better go.
